This place was chosen to form part of the festival because it counts with a unique architectonic jewel —an ancient Mayan fortress city placed by the seaside and surrounded by exuberant vegetation and three impressive walls which protect the mysticism of a millenary culture.
The screenings in Tulum will be held at Papaya Playa Project.
During the celebration of the Riviera Maya Film Festival, the Pearl of the Mexican Caribbean will be the venue for a gala screening as well as many exhibitions with the presence of some of the most renowned figures of cinema and entertainment.
Spectacular beaches, luxury hotels, and ancient Mayan ruins are part of what makes Cancun such an attractive destination. The many natural reserves and parks in Cancun offer the possibility of interacting in the thick mangrove vegetation or practicing water sports such as snorkeling or scuba diving.
This venue of the Riviera Maya Film Festival also holds the most important harbor in Quintana Roo and it is placed right in the middle between Playa del Carmen and Cancun. Its main attractive, the reef which is now a national park, represents the second largest reef in the world and it is only 500 meters away from the shore.
This is an ideal place for practicing all kinds of water activities, among them scuba diving, snorkeling, and windsurfing. In Puerto Morelos there is also a botanical garden (Mayan Rainforest Sanctuary) where it is possible to enjoy the local flora and fauna and which also has a small zoo with boas, ocelots and, as its main attraction, crocodiles of all ages.
