To encourage the distribution of Mexican films and the creation of international independent films, the Riviera Maya Film Festival gives economic support, as award to the winners of the sections Mexican Platform and RivieraLAB .
So far, the rmff has assigned the amount of 6,000,000.00 to these awards, in its first four editions. Notably, many of the films and projects awarded by the festival have had significant involvement in diverse international competitions, and some domestic films have achieved national distribution.
The RMFF gives the following awards:
It is given to the two winning national films from the Mexican Platform section. The prize consists of 300 thousand pesos for each film, and it is intended to be used in distribution expenses.
The films awarded in the three previous editions, were:
2012: Los últimos cristeros- Matías Meyer and Cuates de Australia- Everardo González.
2013: Inori- Pedro González Rubio and Despertar el polvo -Hari Sama.
2014: Café- Hatuey Viveros and Navajazo- Ricardo Silva.
2015: “Me quedo contigo” – Artemio Narro and “Los muertos” – Santiago Mohar Volkow.
YOUTH JURY KUKULKAN AWARD
It is an award given by a group of young people to the best film of the Mexican Platform section. The prize is 100, 000 pesos.
These are the films that won in previous editions:
2012: Canícula- José Álvarez.
2013: Las búsquedas- José Luis Valle.
2014: Cumbres- Gabriel Nuncio.
2015: “La maldad” – Joshua Gil Delgado.
RIVIERALAB/WORK IN PROGRESS AWARD
This award is given to the two projects selected by the RivieraLab/Work in Progress jury. The prize of 200,000 pesos, for each winner, intends to support the completion of the films.
The projects awarded in previous editions are the following:
2012: “Tanta agua” – Ana Guevara y Leticia Jorge
2013: “Feguibox” – Rubén Monsuy y Gabriel Amdur y “La última película” – Raya Martín y Mark Peranson
2014: “The Iron Ministry” – J.P. Sniadecki y “La princesa de Francia” – Matías Piñeiro
2015: “Maquinaria Panamericana” – Joaquín del Paso y “El rastreador de estatuas” – Jerónimo Rodríguez
RIVIERALAB/ COPRDUCTION FORUM AWARD
This award is given to the two projects chosen by the RivieraLab/Coproduction Forum jury. The prize consists of 200, 000 pesos for ach film, in order to support projects in early stages of development.
